In the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Johnny 'Amon' Kröner and his brother Chris Kröner, both of whom have been in various bands since 2015, have formed the hungry heavy-speed metal project AXETASY with guitarist Nik 'Fetch' Mangold to force the NWOTHM scene to take notice.
During an unavoidably long period of style-finding without the opportunity to play shows due to the pandemic, the band released their newly written songs “Slicing Dreams” and “Axetasy” in the form of demo singles in the spring of 2020 and later recruited Ben 'Jaxxy' Kruska as their bassist.

The band from the southern Germany, which has since been fully formed, started the year 2022 with the release of the single “Deadly Witch” and has already made a name for itself in the German underground scene after several concerts throughout Germany along with other rising metal bands such as SPITFIRE, KNIFE or KRYPTOS aswell as veterans like JAG PANZER.

AXETASY’s songs are characterised by eerily nasty and varied arrangements, technically savvy guitar parts, rattling basslines, relentlessly whipping drums and cynically biting vocals. Lyrically, the band deals mainly with real and surreal horror, the nightmarish depths of the human subconscious and the urge to be driven into a ecstatic loss of control. Stylistically influenced by bands of the 80s such as HELLOWEEN, MERCYFUL FATE or SDI, but also by younger bands such as VULTURE and RIOT CITY, the four young musicians underline their music and lyrical themes with an insane stage presence at energetic live shows.

"DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present AXETASY’s highly anticipated debut album, Withering Tides, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Stuttgart, Germany’s AXETASY formed in 2020 with influences that belied their young age – namely, the speed metal, thrash, and black metal stalwarts of the ‘80s. Not for nothing is their furious, stubbornly obscure sound stuck there: while you’re busy checking the calendar year, AXESTASY have already dragged you into the insane depths of morbid ecstasy!

Now, after a debut and a couple digital singles, AXETASY charge the gates of Hell with their full-length debut, Withering Tides. After the short, scene-setting intro, Withering Tides gallops away into heavy metal heaven with a sound that’s strikingly familiar yet somehow unique – strange magick, indeed! The four youngsters of AXETASY soon prove their mettle with a straightforward rush of just-black-enough speed metal dotted with tasty, atmospheric melodies and technically demanding passages. This is not the usual blackthrash trip; rare is it to find a modern band nailing the etched-in-time, Walls of Jericho-era Helloween sound with this much aplomb. As such, the production of Withering Tides totally befits their fun-yet-fiery, dark-but-not-completely chassis: gleaming and clean where it needs to be, and just dirty enough underneath. Nightmarish mayhem, for sure, and immediately memorable after just one listen…but you’ll surely be possessed by AXETASY to press “play” 666 times!
